Robinhood IRA match: 1%, or 3% with Gold
Updated November 5, 2026 · Offer data last verified 2026-11-05 · Not financial or tax advice.
Robinhood adds a match to money you put in a Robinhood IRA. Without a subscription it's 1%. With Robinhood Gold ($5/month) the match on annual contributions rises to 3%. Robinhood's page says maxing out the 2026 contribution earns a $225 boost with Gold. Details from Robinhood's official retirement page and our Robinhood IRA offer page.
Contribution match amounts (2026 limits)
| IRS limit | Contribution | 1% (no Gold) | 3% (Gold) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 50 | $7,500 | $75 | $225 |
| 50 and over | $8,600 | $86 | $258 |
Robinhood states the $7,500/$8,600 limits and the $75/$225 figures. The age-50+ amounts are our arithmetic from the stated rates.
Transfers and 401(k) rollovers
Robinhood says you get matched 1% on contributions, IRA transfers and old 401(k) rollovers, with no cap on the 1%. That's where the big dollars are: a $100,000 rollover would earn $1,000 at 1%. The 3% Gold rate applies to annual contributions.
The Gold requirement
To earn the 3% boost, Robinhood says you must join Gold and keep it for 1 year, starting from the date you earned your first Gold match. At $5/month that's $60, so the extra 2% on a $7,500 contribution ($150) nets about $90 if Gold is the only reason you subscribe.
The 5-year rule
Robinhood's disclosure says the funds that earned the match must stay in the account for at least 5 years to avoid a potential Early IRA Match Removal Fee. Plan on leaving the money there. See holding periods and clawbacks.
Other fine print
- The match isn't counted toward your annual contribution limit.
- It doesn't apply to managed IRAs from Robinhood Strategies.
- You need earned income to contribute to an IRA.
